"In the wee hours of the morning of October 28th, 1940 Benito Mussolini, representing the Fascist party that had overthrown the Italian government, offered an ultimatum to Greece to submit to their authority. This demand contained a long list of capitulations including allowing Axis forces to enter and occupy fundamentally any "strategic location" they felt was appropriate. Summoning his inner Leonidas, Prime Minister Ioannis Metaxas' apocryphal response to the litany of demands was simply "Οχι" … No…." Main page link Amicalement Armand |
