"With all the tactical gear out there these days, it's easy to look past your feet. But whether you're an operator on a mission or just a grey man staying vigilant, having the right pair of combat boots is important. How important? Well, think about it this way: life or death in a firefight is the difference of milliseconds and fractions of an inch. Anything that slows you down, distracts or fails to perform when needed could cost you those fractions. On the flip side, having the right footwear means not having to think about your footing on the slippery deck of a boat or while fast roping down the side of a building.

But nowadays there are more combat boots than you can shake a stick at. It's hard to know which are quality and which have simply been marketed as such. That's why we built this guide from recommendations from our team of former operators and spec ops guys. Every entry on the list comes from a different SOFREP team member who's actually worn the combat boots in the battle space. From SWCC fast boats to the jungles of South American, these five footwear options will cover you in just about any situation…"

So, if you're thinking of signing on with Blackwater, hiring out to a third world dictator, or need something comfortable while snatching folks off the street, these are the boots for you!

They're also good for studying alligators in shallow water.

Interesting that the Best Boat Boot is Converse "Combat Chucks" Chuck Taylors. When I used to race sailboats on the San Francisco Bay, I found that civilian Converse high-tops worked out much better than Sperry Topsiders.

I still wear Sperry Topsiders to the office, though, now that we're casual every day.

My vote goes to Altama 4250 USMC Certified Hot Weather Combat Boot. On my second pair.

My first froze in Red Square one February (well let us face it, look at their title, and it was -28C.) They cracked right across the sole, but still sit in the garage. Impossible to find now. Many stores carry images, all saying "out of stock". Altama's latest are not comparable, well mine were disappointing, expensive and sit in the cupboard unloved.
