… is impressing fellow sailors "Women have been serving on Navy ships for a quarter-century, although the deck department — especially the bridge watch sections responsible for steering the ship and keeping a lookout for hazards — have remained a mainly male preserve. That changed with the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford last month — all the deck department sailors assigned to the boatswain's mates bridge watch teams were women. They call themselves the Iron 9. "They did great. If there's a grade higher than ‘A,' that's what I'd give them," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Faeline Matthews, the boatswain's mate who leads the team and whose job is to make sure the relatively young sailors in a bridge watch section are qualified to do the work. "I think it shows what we can do."…" Main page link Amicalement Armand

So are they going to integrate with males for the bridge watch or just have special "women only" groups? |

Do we integrate or segregate? Striker, I'm with you. It easier to wake up and muster your watch team having to go to only 1 berthing area vice 2. It also made the Navy Times. Perhaps we could have an all female ship. Strange times we live in. |

As long as they are all qualified and competent. I don't see a problem. We are talking on a naval vessel. Not an Infantry, tank, FA, CE, unit. From what I've been told those type units can a bit tough … 🤔 You spend most of your time being uncomfortable and trying not to get hurt … |
