So as not to hijack the earlier thread…😁 I notice from the Steven's Balagan site that towed AT seems to be phased out by 1967. Is this true or did some soldier on? I know Israel had SS11 M3s and recoilless guns mounted on jeeps and the Arab forces used SUs. Seems to me both sides went self-propelled pretty quickly. PS I'm not counting dismountable ATGW or bazookas/LAW. |

Just read Tanks of Tammuz and that account mentions lots of anti tank guns dug in with the Egyptian forces……perhaps they 'trickled' them down to the infantry formations? |

The Soviets had this: link ATGs seem to be a holdover as recoilless rifles and self propelled guns became the norm. The French also had a 90mm mounted as an ATG, but I don't know in what numbers they were produced. |

My reading indicates that the Egyptians fielded quite a number of towed, Soviet rifled 100mm anti tank guns in '67. |

Lots of Syrian and Egyptian Soviet made towed 85mm and 100mm AT guns in 1967 and 73. Indeed- lots of Soviet made towed AT guns in the 1980s GSFG as well- they never really went out of style for that side. |

Soviets still have a towed ATG, but it doubles as traditional indirect fire arty as well. |

Obviously i should have looked through my regular haunts before posting.. The Egyptian org charts on the Fire & Fury charts show 85 and 100mm towed guns in 1973. Doh! I'm dabbling in the Six Day War because the mix of 40s to 60s hardware and silver jets is very attractive to me, but I've got vast holes in my knowledge. Thanks again for all the replies. 👍 |

The Soviets airborne units had the ASU-85 and the SD-44 85mm ATG with an APU: link Wolfhag |
