Venezuela's propaganda videos are showing off warships armed with new Chinese-made anti-ship missiles. The C-802A missile, supplied by Beijing to the Venezuelan Navy, is designed to take out surface ships at ranges of over 100 nautical miles. The sea-skimming missile is generally analogous to the Harpoon. This arms deal should greatly increase the reach and potency of President Nicolás Maduro's navy…

Perhaps, unless US Navy SEALS pay a visit, and loosen or totally remove their hull drain plugs.

I feel a little sorry for the poor schlub who gets blamed for that.

Our new, long range, ASMs may just come in handy.

This brings some interesting thoughts on future developments, for example whether the Chinese would follow up with more extensive liaison (such as temporary or maybe eventually permanent basing in Venezuela). No doubt the application of TLAM/SEALs etc. will be the popular "solution" but in a more rational and realistic non-warfighting environment such a development would certainly complicate Western planning

Of more concern is China's weaponized commercial cargo containers. They have copied a Russia idea for a weapon system that fits x4 cruise missiles into a container that is the same size/shape as a commercial cargo container:

I'm sure a few 'bribes' were paid, and some of those missiles are being taken apart for 'research'… ;-)
