What would you use for flags for 28mm Mad Anthony Wayne's Legion of the United States? |
historygamer | 14 Oct 2020 8:41 p.m. PST |
I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking what they looked like, or who makes them for 28mm? |

I imagine I can use War of 1812 flags with the blue field and Eagle, in a pinch. But I'd really like to find something "authentic". There are some interesting Whiskey Rebellion flags. PDF link And War of 1812 flags seem to have evolved from those. I'd like something in "mid-evolution". |

See the previous discussion thread as there are some regimental flags shown in that thread. |

Ah, yes. But it's in the Evil Empire Facebook. |

I'll contact the Legion guy. |

Yes, it'd be nice to see these too, since I'm not on the Book of Faces, either. Thanks! Eric |

Each battalion of each Sub-Legion of the Legion of the United States carried a single flag for the battalion. A photo of surviving Sub-Legion flag is shown in the Osprey book, US Army, 1784-1811. The flag is at the West Point Museum. The flag of the 4th Sub-Legion is shown in the one of the color plates in the Osprey book on Fallen Timbers. Basically, all of the four Sub-Legion flags followed the same basic design but differed in background color. Each of the four Sub-Legions had an assigned color- 1st(white), 2nd(red), 3rd(yellow), 4th(red). This link has photos of the surviving flag, re-created flags of Legion reenactment units and toy soldiers from my collection with paper flags I made- link To my knowledge, there are no makers of correct flags for Wayne's Legion. War of 1812 flags would be incorrect. I hope this is helpful. |

Someone on Fife and Drum clued me to a pdf in Wargame Vault.
Legion Publications sells camp colors and standards on Wargame Vault – 28mm and 18mm. I haven't looked there yet, but I'll report back on it. Nice Legion. Scale? Figures? |

The scale of the figures is 1/32(54mm). The figures are a variety of AWI figures like Imrie Risley, Rose Miniatures, etc. with converted heads. Over half are cast by me from a mold that makes an AWI Continental marine which I then convert the head. I'm a traditional toy soldier collector which is why they're painted in a glossy style. Here's a link to them in a recent display- link |

Oh Great OFM, There was an old Yahoo Groups for supporting the rules Their Mocassins Trickled Blood. It had a pdf for 28mm flag if I recall. The gentleman that ran it I believe purchased or ran the Frying Pan and Blanket Miniatures. Side note, this was the first pack of Old Glory I bought. I painted the entire legion for Fallen Timbers. Sadly, 30 years I still haven't played it… |

I see the four different sublegion flags. I believe there was also a regimental. Is this correct and does anyone have any information about it? |

Britains, now based in Ohio, has recently produced figures of Wayne's Legion, one of them a standard bearer. They are excellent and very well done. Further, these are models, not toys but they are certainly suitable for being played with. |

Old Glory has excellent 28mm figures for Wayne's Legion. Another good source. |
