"Official says 30,000 people forced to leave homes in Helmand province as clashes between Taliban and security forces continue.

Tens of thousands of people in southern Afghanistan have fled their homes following days of heavy fighting between the Taliban and government forces, officials said, as violence continues to soar despite ongoing peace talks.

Shades of Saigon 1975?

Nothing new really … this has been going on in A'stan for a very long time. And again this failed state is dominated by tribal, and religious, etc., fueled warfare. Nothing will change at least anytime soon.

And as soon as the US, et al leave, things will get worse.

Yeah its almost a 99.99% certainty. Nothing much has changed there in decades if not a century. They got better weapons is the major thing as far as I can see. 6 major tribes, 2 major religions, numerous mullahs, warlords, and a next to worthless "national" military and police force.

What could possibly go wrong ?

Shoulda pulled out 10 years ago at least. We went in to kick AQ butt after 9/11 but stayed to "nation-build" for 20 years, thinking it'll work this time whereas it didn't in the 1980's. We can succeed where the Soviets failed, apparently.

Yes, in places like A'stan, Iraq, etc., they seems to like where they are. With not being totally ready to come into at least the 20th century let alone this one.
