So eighteen months or so later, what's the common verdict on Blitzkreig Commander IV, over the earlier version (ignoring BCIII for obvious reasons). Is it a better mousetrap and would you by it again?

BKC IV is pretty good and our group has moved completely to it after the debacle with the third edition. The stats seem better aligned, the differences in command range to reflect the doctrine of various nations, better recce rules, etc., have really improved the game.

One question what is it like at changing the scale of units?

That's to say does it allow (even if only by House Rules) for having one Tank model = Four real Tanks at one Action and then next time out playing at 1:1?

We like the larger forces but found it useful to size down as well as up in our BKC II days.

Who in the US carries the hard copy rules. I know wargame vault has the PDF but interested in the hard copy.

I don't see what the issue is concerning the scale of the units. The system plays the same at platoon and individual vehicle/squad scales without any adjustments.

BKIV is great. I bought my hard copy direct.

One thing I think BKIV improves on is the use on recon assets…they really have a purpose.

What did they change about recon? Bk2 recon seemed ok, or at least more than most games I've played.

Not an issue as such. I just read that it could be played at "virtually" 1:1, which I believe was meant to be 1:1 in Tanks, other AFVs and Transport but one infantry stand was a squad.

My problem is that I couldn't recall if this had always been the case, haven't played the rules for years and no longer have a copy of BKC II.

Back in the day we didn't like the recording of hits on on AFVs that then got wiped off at the end of a turn if it wasn't killed off before then. So we used to just go with a dead tank was a dead tank.

Sorry for being vague but its been a while.

Well I prefer BK2 as they are more succinct, for example the original recce rules took up a third of page and worked. The new recce rules are four pages!!!!which is more than the three pages on firing. A lot of the important optional rules have been taken out and are now an download, such as hidden deployment. I play by leaving the hits on which I guess would give more of a 1.1 'feel' game.
