Hey some one just got tossed in the dawghouse!!!

Gazzola18 Oct 2020 4:18 a.m. PST

Well done everyone. This is the sort of intelligent debating that will attract others to the Napoleonic boards. With this sort of er, level, I can't understand why people would not want to engage in Napoleonic discussions. I mean, everyone is acting like a grown up, aren't they? LOL

von Schwartz18 Oct 2020 7:04 a.m. PST

Acting like an Adult…HELLS BELLS that's no fun!!!!

Growing OLD is mandatory…growing UP is optional!

Wolfhag, just cuz you're using Adult language don't make it adult.

Wolfhag20 Oct 2020 10:20 a.m. PST

von Schwartz,
I'm laying off the adult language and trying to fine tune my verbal skills on how to tell someone to go to hell so they look forward to the trip.

Come on guys, it's empty again.

The other day I was wondering what would have happened if America had hired Napoleon as a general in 1814. Maybe they wouldn't have lost the War of 1812?

Robert le Diable29 Nov 2020 7:41 a.m. PST

Did Boney gaze to the East, and think on "Luisa"? Or, to the West, and think on Louisiana?

Had the Louisiana Purchase not occurred, what would the likely consequences have been? (Apart from President Bonaparte the Fiftieth, naturally).

The other day I was wondering what would have happened if America had hired Napoleon as a general in 1814. Maybe they wouldn't have lost the War of 1812?

That is interesting, I wonder if the USA had had populations at the level of the ACW if they could've raised a large army to send to the Spanish Peninsula to beat British veteran units like they did at New Orleans.

Robert le Diable29 Nov 2020 7:59 a.m. PST

The population of the States would have been much greater at that time if the Royal Navy hadn't been so active in boarding Emigrant Ships to impress the men as sailors, the women as governesses, seamstresses and camp-followers, and the children for forcing bodily up chimneys.

Whaddya mean, bozo, "Fake Mythology"? I watched a Docu-Drama all about it.

Brechtel19829 Nov 2020 9:05 a.m. PST

Maybe they wouldn't have lost the War of 1812?

The US didn't lose the war-it was a draw. The British failed in all the major campaigns of 1814, with New Orleads lasting into early 1815.

Perhaps you should read Wellington's correspondence with Lord Liverpool on settling the peace treaty, which left the situation as it was before the war started.

Everyone rolling in the aisles yet?

The day is young … give it time …

Au pas de Charge29 Nov 2020 11:44 a.m. PST

I wonder if anyone did a study on just how many lead balls were extracted from Packenham's posthumous posterior?

Robert le Diable29 Nov 2020 11:55 a.m. PST

Br'er Jonathan, he stan' behine de cotton-bales, an' he never said a thing.

Michael Westman29 Nov 2020 10:22 p.m. PST

Well 4th Cuirassier, you had one bite.

Unless Napoleon took command instead of Jackson and met his Waterloo in Waterloo, Louisiana, ABBA wouldn't have had a hit on it's hands. Someone would have had a heck of a time building a big mound there though.

Fenman06 Dec 2020 1:21 p.m. PST

Here is one!

Did Napoleon suffer from "Small Man" Syndrome?

Namely overly aggressive with an inflated ego covering a massive inferiority complex brought about because he spent his whole life being patted on the head, getting a crick in the neck looking up and having conversations going literally over his head.
Discuss!

4th Cuirassier06 Dec 2020 3:12 p.m. PST

I agree, Fenman.

French feet and inches were smaller than English ones, so Napoleon's height of 5 feet 2 inches was in fact no more than 4'10" in real money. The man was a borderline clinical midget.

Michael Westman06 Dec 2020 8:55 p.m. PST

Found this -

MODERN CELEBRITIES WHO ARE SHORTER THAN NAPOLEON (Napoleon was figured to be 5' 6 1/2" in English inches) :
Kevin Hart: 5'2"
Paul Simon: 5'3"
Seth Green: 5'4"
Bruno Mars: 5'5"
Daniel Radcliffe: 5'5"
Nicolas Sarkozy: 5'5"
Dustin Hoffman: 5'6"
Aziz Ansari: 5'6"
Jack Black: 5'6"
Jon Stewart: 5'6"
Lil Wayne: 5'6"
Elijah Wood: 5'6"

For what it's worth, Vladimir Putin is 5' 7".

4th Cuirassier07 Dec 2020 11:07 a.m. PST

David Van Day out of Dollar is also shorter than Napoleon, but less famous.

Jeffers07 Dec 2020 1:32 p.m. PST

Although Napoleon never owned a burger van.

42flanker07 Dec 2020 3:14 p.m. PST

Elijah Wood: hobbit!

von Schwartz07 Dec 2020 4:19 p.m. PST

For what it's worth, Vladimir Putin is 5' 7".

Yeah, but he looks hot topless!!
Or so some of my female associates think.

von Schwartz07 Dec 2020 4:23 p.m. PST

After looking at the height of many of todays modern male celebrities I feel like BLOOMING GIANT at a towering 5'11". I have it on good authority that even Arnold is only 5'11"

The good thing about being short is you can hide better …

dapeters08 Dec 2020 11:18 a.m. PST

I believe I read maybe here that Napoleon was not relatively small, that he seize was average for his time. Legion 4, the problem is most of us do not stop growing or those place we use to hide in have shrunk.

Don't get me started and the Holidays are here ! 😖😲

But you lose the sun earlier.

Yeah I never thought about it that way ? I'm only about 5'7" and getting shorter.

While we have mentioned napoleon, according to my DNA test from 23 & Me. I'm related to napoleon on my Father's side. And it only cost me $75 USD !💸

von Schwartz09 Dec 2020 4:55 p.m. PST

The good thing about being short is you can hide better …

It's also easier for short folk to pick up things they drop as they are already closer than their taller comrades.

For Legion
Yeah I never thought about it that way ? I'm only about 5'7" and getting shorter.

Messi……..low centre (or center) of gravity. Best footballer ever (even better than Ronaldo or Maradona)

42flanker26 Dec 2020 11:47 p.m. PST

Did I miss something?

von Schwartz ver 227 Dec 2020 11:27 a.m. PST

42flanker – yes, yes you did miss something!

von Schwartz ver 227 Dec 2020 11:29 a.m. PST

BTW, what is John the OFM doing in the dawghouse. It just say "By request" where it should list his offense(s). Does that mean he asked to be put in the dawghouse?

DrsRob27 Dec 2020 11:59 a.m. PST

Perhaps the nature of the offence is removed on request.

von Schwartz ver 227 Dec 2020 2:40 p.m. PST

Oooo, was it THAT naughty?!
