Issue #49 of World At War magazine had a rather good rundown on the Turkish military during WW II. The issue game is Operation Gertrud a German invasion of Turkey. There are 5 scenarios with the game/war starting early 1941 (the easiest scenario for the Germans per the rules), late 41, early and late 42 and finally early 43 which, once again according to the rules, is the hardest for the Germans.

Planning for the actual Operation Gertrud first began November of 41 on into early 42.

I designed a variant for World in Flames (when the local group I played with was playing that regularly) that would allow a (small) chance of Turkey joining the Axis side or even the Allied side, depending on how the war was going. (I had a similar one giving a small chance for Spain to join in, also.)

I have the World at War issue at my store.
Why is it an assumption that Turkey joins the Axis?
Once Greece is occupied, Turkey might want to expand and grab some Greek islands. British troops could easily reinforce the Turkish front.

Rudy I actually picked up my copy from you at either Recon or Hurricon :)

And yes was complete with the game.

It was said had the Axis taken the Suez the Turks may have joined them. They were allied with the Germans in WWI. But as we know the Italians and Japanese were on the Allie's side in WWI.
