There is a small but significant exhibition on Roman magic, in York (not accessible right now due to Lockdown 3!). It's in the medieval Barley Hall. I went in the summer. First time I have seen that aspect acknowledged properly, although the Hadrian's Wall related museums display plenty of charms etc. In Bath they have found plenty of lead 'curses' which were given to the gods by being thrown in the waters of what is now the spa pool! |
