My girlfriend and I went to an equipment sale for the local AHL hockey team. While she was browsing I was watching the marquee cycle through upcoming shows and tours, and I saw this. I have no opinion of any of the groups represented, I know nothing about any of them. But when I saw the logo, I thought… "Is that a gold-plated Panzer IVG? Really? Who would…. why would you…. I HAVE QUESTIONS!"

I bet Rommel wished he had thought to gold-plate his panzers. The blinding reflections from the desert sun would have driven all before him. |

Well to be fair the Pzkw III was the first "modern" main battle tank And I agree that the gold plating would have driven the Eighth Army nuts! |
Legion 4 | 08 Oct 2020 10:40 a.m. PST |
Yes a Pz.III J, I think. link They probably don't know it is Panzer of any mark as will most of those viewing it. Some might not even know it's tank. Including some of the media ! |

Imagine the outcry if this showed white people round gold plated shackles. African American Nazis. Who would have thought eh? |
Glengarry5 | 08 Oct 2020 12:58 p.m. PST |
The original Africa Corps? The top figure is wearing a hoodie featuring a different tank, any guesses as to what that might be? Looks Cold War, US or possibly Soviet? Tanks aren't my area of expertise. |

The T-shirt tank looks like a Centurion that has been squeezed horizontally to fit into the logo surround. link |

Hmmm, spent a bit of time playing with the image and I'm now leaning instead more to a Chieftain, although the barrel has been badly truncated even if the image is streched out to match the body of the tank. |

it's a III not a IV that explains it How do ANY of the graphics in that logo go together?!?! |
Silurian | 08 Oct 2020 5:51 p.m. PST |
Haha. Listen to us. What do we reckon on the ausf for that Pz III? J? J for jewelled. |
Oberlindes Sol LIC | 08 Oct 2020 6:48 p.m. PST |
Then it should a Pz III g, for geblingt, that being my made-up German word for "blingy" or "blinged." |
Chimpy | 09 Oct 2020 1:14 p.m. PST |
Reminds me of the gold plated AK47 carried by the Warlord in Lord of War. |

Flam Panzer III, no taper on the barrel |

Gold PZKW III would be perfect for Girls und Panzer game |
robert piepenbrink | 09 Oct 2020 6:03 p.m. PST |
No, no, Oberlindes! The tank is a Pzkw III J, but the associated UNIT is "geblingt" the way the panzer grenadier company which actually gets the half-tracks is "gepanzert." In the US Army, for instance, the battalion of the 3rd Infantry Regiment which provides gate guards at Fort Meyer and honor guards for burials in Arlington is an "infantry battalion (geblingt.)" Any time you see them waxing and buffing tactical vehicles, or putting colorful markings on them, you're probably looking at the geblingt platoon. |

The T-shirt tank looks like a Centurion that has been squeezed horizontally to fit into the logo surround. Hmmm … maybe ? leaning instead more to a Chieftain, Ah … maybe … it just may be a made up tank taking some of it aspects from real tanks. But again … Don't think any of them would know Chieftain or Centurion if it ran them over ! |

Found this Wikipedia article: link No Limit Records is a hip hop record label, big in the 90s, formed in Richmond, California, then later moved to New Orleans. One hallmark was the artists guest starring on each other's records. Apparently inactive for some time. Hence "Reunion Tour". Per the article, the logo from 1998-2000 was a tank with rapper standing in front, rendered in bling. Logo: TMP link |

Don't think any of them would know Chieftain or Centurion if it ran them over ! Roger that! I doubt that many would even recognize it as a tank! |

I'm going to refurb my 1/35 Tamiya PzIII next year, maybe I should gold plate it… ;-) |
Legion 4 | 11 Oct 2020 3:45 p.m. PST |
Roger that! I doubt that many would even recognize it as a tank! Yes again just like many in the news media ! E.g. during recent riots in the US more than once I heard HMMWVs called Tanks. Even if they were the armored version they still ain't Tanks ! |

I don't expect the media to know shi*t from shinola, but on a recent installment on one of the history channels they were doing the Top Ten Tanks, Yep…you guessed it they had the M113 at #5. |
Legion 4 | 12 Oct 2020 9:09 a.m. PST |
DOH !!!!! 😱 I commanded an M113 Mech Co., for 18 months '87-'89 … so short answer … No Tanks ! 😁 I'm sure I'm not alone when saying I've caught the History Channels a number of times getting it wrong ! 👎👎 |
