When the Intergalactic Crustacean Empire comes to take over the planet, you're going to be in a world hurt amigo.

Me, me, me…….!

I generally prefer mine either breaded and fried, or beer battered and fried.

Of course they are excellent:

- grilled;
- broiled (I don't do this one too much, due to time – usually I just boil them instead, since that's really quick);
- boiled (shrimp boil) and served warm, or later chilled for shrimp cocktails;
- sauteed in butter and garlic;
- stir-fried; and/or in
- stews and various other simmered or broiled seafood dishes.

Shrimp jambalaya with ham in it is delicious. Haven't done the gumbo yet, but want to try that too.

Mexican, Shrimp Ranchero or al Diabla is very good too, depending upon your heat level, as are various Chinese shrimp dished – cashew, sweet and sour, Szechuan, or Kung Pao.

I also make a couple of other Italian shrimp dishes: sauteed in butter, white wine, and garlic, then placed in a baking dish, covered with marinara sauce, and a mix of mozzarella and provolone cheese, and broiled until the cheese melts and browns a bit; and the other is prepared using jumbo prawns broiled or sauteed in garlic butter and wine, then covered in a slice of prosciutto and a slice of mozz, and placed under the broiler to melt the cheese some. Serve the latter over spaghetti, or angel hair pasta, as desired.

The latter dish can be more easily prepared and simulated by using the former baking dish, and adding prosciutto bits underneath the cheese too, if desired.

I've heard and read that some don't think seafood and cheese should be mixed/eaten together, for some strange reason. Clearly, those people don't know what they are talking about.

Bacon-wrapped shrimp, and/or bacon-wrapped and barbecue sauced dishes are options too. I haven't done those in a while, but need to again, I think. The trick to those is pre-cooking the bacon a bit to ensure it gets thoroughly cooked and crispy, since the shrimp cook so quickly that if you don't do that the bacon is frequently under-cooked.

Enjoy!

Most of the crustaceans in that video are actually prawns not shrimp – real shrimp have a distinct 'hump' in the back when straightened out, prawns do not.

1: Boiled in salted water (to about the strength of sea water), chilled, peeled, with salt & black pepper, maybe on soft white bread with real butter.

2: Prawn ceviche – start with green prawns ,peel and marinate in lime/lemon and diced red onion until they look cooked.

3: BBQ, with garlic and butter.

Just about everything else in the way of sauce or dressing is just to hide soggy refrozen seafood. I prefer to catch my own prawns with a net & torch.

Who's got time for all that?? I eat them straight out of the package! Precooked of course. A bit of cocktail sauce and I'm asking myself "Where did they all go?"

mghFond02 Oct 2020 9:28 a.m. PST

I tolerate shrimp & dislike most sea food. UNlike my kids, who love shrimp, or my fiancee, who loves sea food.

Damon.

Two words…

Shrimp Alexander!

Shrimp, cheese, BACON, Fire grilled. Yum!

Thresher0102 Oct 2020 7:13 p.m. PST

Red or white canned clam sauce???

Never seen that, ever. Where do you find that?

Easy enough to make, I suppose.

Almost forgot to add, for the jumbo prawns with prosciutto and mozz, you want to add a good marinara over the pasta, when serving. Deeeeeelicious!!!

Yea, Armand made me hungry. Must have shrimpsssss tomorrow.

I need to do the etoufee and the gumbo, soon.

For the boiled, broiled, and/or grilled, serve with melted butter, and Old Bay Seafood Seasoning, if/when desired.

I tried to like shrimp, lobster, and crab for a few years but eventually gave up. I find the texture, smell, and taste -- well, I don't want to ruin your enjoyment, so I won't say anything.

Interestingly, I like crab cakes: crunchy and salty and they always come with beer.

I like fish and mollusks of all kinds prepared in all ways.

Thresher01,
Bumble Bee and several other brands make clam sauce. Walmart and Publix carry it here in Florida. Readily available in northeast when I lived there. Walmart cost is $2.08 USD per link

Hmmm, thanks for that.

Again, never seen premade, "clam sauce" sold in any store, but I will look for it next time I'm in Walmart.

All I've ever seen are canned clams, and bottles of clam joice, in addition to canned micro-shrimp, crab, tuna, anchovies, etc., etc..

Wolfhag03 Oct 2020 4:54 p.m. PST

For a real treat tell Skarper to send you some home made fermented Nước Chấm sauce, MMMMMMMMMMM.
