Pete Atack from the Lone Star Historical Miniatures (LSHM) club of Texas recently picked up the Republican Romans and Carthaginian sets from Raven Banner Games: link Pete provided the following report on these below:

Thanks for posting, Charlie! I'll prob get these on the table for an actual game this week to see how they look in action. Pete |

I have AmRev figs from WoFun in 18mm. Fantastic option for those of use who don't like to paint. |

Hello everyone, I too got the Punic War set of the WuFun minis from Raven Banner Games. (GREAT service BTW). I agree with Pete's evaluation of the figures, they look great, very colorful and shipped is a smaller than expected box. But I TOO had issues with spears snapping off as well as the single leg poses for horses and men. I used model cement to fix those causalities and no one is the wiser. As for the rules, I'm not an Ancients gamer; we played them yesterday for the first time. They were simple enough to understand but had special rules for special units (like the Naked Gauls!!) that made it from being just a generic bash. We ran into only one rules problem that we couldn't solve (reforming), but I've been in touch with the rules author before and I will email our question. Pete, I think you may have based that side view Elephant on the wrong base. I believe it is to be on the angled base as I've done here:
And for the rest who are interested, here are a few shots of the epic struggle we had yesterday. While I purchased the full pack, we played with only the Starter Armies….. Enjoy:
I also purchased the ECW figures…but those are for another post…. Dave |

These figures also look like a great way to introduce new gamers and also as an excellent Convention game. Pete has already committed to running some games at MillenniumCon 2021 in Texas. Also Stephen Huckaby of Raven Banner Games plans to provide a full compliment of sets at the convention. |

I would have to paint the white edges, at minimum with black so the eye wouldn't notice it as much. Maybe even match the edge color to the printing. |

I was just thinking that I would have to run a black sharpie around the edges. |

Sharpie has a huge pack of different colored markers. I used them to for a similar project with the Deluxe Ogre towers, buildings, and the Ogres themselves. It takes some effort, but the colored edges improves things quite a bit. |

The company noted that when they produce 54 mm figures they will cast them — print them With colored edges. Wonder why they can't do that for the 15's and 28's? |

What ranges will they be doing in 54mm? |

Yeah – After I looked at everything after basing it hit me "use the angled bases for the elephants". They have been fixed now! :-) |

Excellent post. Great looking stuff. Just shot off an order for the Punic Wars, and AWI. Both areas I have wanted to do, but, you know, the pile of unpainted stuff, making me feel guilty. Thanks. Love to see more stuff from others who have pulled the Wofun trigger. Dave |
