You upload an image, they print it on canvas or something for $20 USD a yard. Seems like a great way to get just the pattern you want with just the hex-sizes you want, etc.

Has anyone tried any they liked or disliked?

I used a vinyl printing company for my Airfix Battles mats so I can't see why fabric printers would be any different.

I used a snowscape image from Wargame Vault, and hired Fabric On Demand:

fabricondemand.com

Loved the results. Had to ask the artist to reimage the pic in a different resolution, which he did with no issues.

It was … maybe six years ago, so by now the world may have changed a little bit.

Take a look at the Walmart photo fleece blankets. You can upload an image. It turns out very well.

Fleece. Interesting. I seem to recall that fleece is snaggy, and catches on the edges of bases, etc. I think I'd prefer canvas or cotton duck. But we have two votes for Walmart fleece…

I have 12 fleece mats in 6 different prints from either Walmart or Walgreens. Have not experienced bases snagging as of yet.

This is a printed cloth.

A big one though.

I tried to use Walmart for a fleece blanket, but they did not accept the file I had from Wargames Vault. However, another gamer I saw at a convention got his from them with the same file.

The I found some one who would accept the file, but it was too big.

Wish I knew how to do this.

I love this idea as I need at least a 6 x 8 mat for Wild West gaming and I can't find any manufacturer that does this in the US. A queen sized blanket would be perfect but where would I get an image? I couldn't find any in the Wargames Vault.

Yes, it came in several parts and has since been sold/auctioned off.

I was due to get a bit but then lockdown happened.

Rdfraf, I got a great one from Wargames Vault. I saw it in action in Lancaster. But I don't know how to get it printed.

Later today I will post a link to it.

Rdfraf, I went to Wargames Vault and it is not available any longer. But I have it. It makes a beautiful mat. The one I saw at the Host in Lancaster at one of the HMGS eastern conventions was wonderful.

The owner of it said Walmart did it for him. He gave me the link on Wargames Vault and I bought the file, but I could never figure out how to get Walmart to do it.

So, I could order any number in any size available I guess, but I don't know how.
