I recently completed a set of Sash & Sabers wonderful 40mm ACW. While 40mm has many challenges for gaming, I find that I am enjoying painting the larger figures far more. Anyone on the fence should give them a try.

I'm working towards building a scenario for Placenoit in 28mm. Currently the only gaming scenario I own for it is the one that comes in Shakos "Fields of Glory" book.

Everything in it looks good except for one unit of Prussians that I'm not sure how to field.

So each Prussian Brigade listed in the battle has 2 Line "Regiments" and one Fusilier. All but the 13th Brigade under Von Hake that is.

Here they have listed the Brigade as having two Line Regiments and one "Light Infantry" Regiment.

I'm wondering if anyone knows why they've chosen a Light unit over a Fusilier for this brigade and how should it be modeled for gaming purposes.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm not familiar with Shako, so perhaps the scenario designer is designating units by how they perform in the rules. But as far as historical organization goes, all four brigades of IV Corps (13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th) consisted of one line regiment of 2 musketeer and 1 fusilier battalions plus two landwehr regiments of 3 battalions each.

Nice work. I like the larger figures as well. I made a diorama for my grandfather decades ago using 40mm Foundry figures.

I would have to win lotto first.

"I would have to win lotto first."

Sash and Saber 40mm infantry are $2.25 USD per fig when purchased in the 20 fig bags, so roughly the same cost as most 28mm figs.

Yes, I was going to say that S&S 40mm figures are very reasonably priced.

Very nice!

I second reasonably priced when you plan out exactly what you are going to do with them – and I personally like that most, if not all, are sculpted with a feel of soldiers in actual combat or situational awareness. I personally started separating with all my 28s. I currently have the entire S&S 40mm lines of ACW, AWI, FIW, Caesars Wars, Plains Wars. I'll probably add War of 1812 later this year. I could not be happier with this line and the service from Old Glory is consistently outstanding.
