Commencing a series of posts featuring the Third Rates of Renown, the first model to join the collection is HMS Bellerophon, perhaps after HMS Victory the most famous of Royal Navy ships of this period.

With a battle record second to none including three fleet actions, the history of the ship makes her a worthy inclusion.

Very nice.

… Much too nice to risk in the oafish hands of clumsy wargamers. That model would be under lock and key in a display case if I owned it.

An she was the ship to which Napoleon surrendered after the 100 Days! Beautiful work. I agree with Blutarski above.

Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you like the latest addition.

This scale allows a level of detail and character that makes these named ship models really stand out from the generic options and I think they really add an extra aesthetic to any group of ships on the tabletop, rather like command groups of 28mm miniatures do when set amongst masses of basic troop types.

Oh and thanks Blutarski, but I'm a wargamer and these models are definitely created for the table.

Cheers chaps

Brings to mind the ship that crashed on Altair 5, the Forbidden Planet.
