Could someone suggest a simple rule set for remote play by zoom (or other video) to tide us over until the virus era is over? it could be a hex-based "board game" type. The idea would be to use an overhead camera and probably counters rather than minatures. |

I'd suggest Bob Cordery's Portable Napoleonic Wargame, which uses a square or hex grid to measure movement and ranges, a d6 for shooting and combat, and offers three levels of game – Brigade, Division and Corps/Army in the one concise rulebook. You could use counters instead of figures easily. |

If you're open to hexes, Command and Colors Napoleonics fits the bill. Card driven. Fun and breezy and you can probably even play on Vassal the board game remote play system: link |

There are good implementations of Command and Colors Napoleonic on Tabletop Simulator. |
