…left Nazi Germany, depicted uniforms of Civil War, other American soldiers for book "A journey of discovery can begin with a few pictures hanging on the wall of your garage. That's my story, anyway. Five illustrations of American soldiers in uniform – including two from the Civil War era – have been hanging from a piece of pegboard in my garage for more than three decades. Back in the 1960s, they were lacquered onto pieces of thin board and sold in shops. Now, (like me) they are showing their age, scuffed and a little weathered…."
