Has anyone tried the 3mm product from PicoArmor? I have an extensive collection of modern armor and infantry plus support elements. I use Panzer 8 rules . It is a great size for brigade level games. |

@ Legion 4 Yes, I have a mixed Space Marine / Imperial Guard Army and, for a short period of time, some 20+ years ago, I played both Epic 40K and Epic Armageddon. The original Epic Titan Legions and Space Marine miniatures from the late 80's were smaller, but the late 90's stuff is definitely 8mm. The relative crudeness of the 80's stuff and the relative large size of the 90's stuff, combined with the ridiculously over-sized weaponry the 40K universe is famous for, results in miniatures that are able to survive gaming. I also have some historical 6mm miniatures (GHQ micro armour) though, and these are in my opinion much to fragile to survive the rigors of gaming. An opinion I have seen confirmed at numerous conventions where, as I said before, I never saw a WW2 or Cold War 6mm army that didn't have at least half its vehicles showing deformed, partly missing, or even entirely missing gun barrels. So, outside the in my opinion lacking visual appeal of 6mm WW2 or Cold War wargaming, the stuff just isn't sturdy enough to survive a life of gaming. I think 10mm is about the bottom line for visual appeal, anything smaller than that and you're definitely better of with well produced counters. |

I like gaming all the Arab/Israeli wars. I lost my interest in World War III in Europe when the Warsaw Pact dissolved, Germany was reunited and the Soviet Union fell apart. |

I like gaming all the Arab/Israeli wars. I lost my interest in World War III in Europe when the Warsaw Pact dissolved, Germany was reunited and the Soviet Union fell apart. I have an '80's era IDF army for TY "Oil War," but I'm just the opposite preferring "What If?" Cold War-Gone-Hot in 1980's Western Europe because pitting the two superpowers US and USSR against each other (albeit in a fictional setting) is far more interesting to me than pitting Israel against junior varsity opponents like Iraq, Iran or Syria. I know, Egypt and Syria gave Israel a run for its money in '67 and '73, and Iran and Iraq fought each other to a standstill in the '80s, but I'm still more interested in gaming with forces of more "modern" nations. The fact that I have sizeable US, USSR, West German and British forces for TY attests to that. |

One of the guys in our club, is going to to do battles from the Ukrainian Crisis in 10 or 12mm. Most of the equipment is Cold War era. 2nd Generation ATGMs, T64s, T72s, BMPs both 1 and 2s, all versions of BTRs. This is very game able using a Cold War rule set. It's Russian/Pro-Rus Ukaine versus Ukraine. I'm a little disappointed in Battlefront that they have not introduced kits for the T-80. The T-80 was operational from '76 on, and many of the T-64s in Germany were replaced by T-80s throughout the '80s. |
