Osprey's "The British Army 1914- 18" and "The German Army 1914- 18" would be a good starting point for the countries indicated. |

There is also some useful information that can be extracted from Paddy Griffith's "Battle Tactics of the Western Front"-- British army only. |

Try Too Fat Lardies "Stout Hearts and Iron Troopers" scenario book, it has great information on the evolution of the German and British Infantry company and platoon. |

I think the World War I Databook should have what you want. That's why I bought it anyway. I'll take a look when I get home and see how far up and down the TOEs go. - Ix |

Yellow admiral, thank you for posting. I know what I want for Christmas now! |

The WW1 Databook covers some of this stuff, although the organisation of later war German platoons and sections remains something of a mystery, even now. The company was the regimental tactical unit and company Cos had a lot of latitude about how they organised their chaps. |

Glad it helped LORDGHEE. There is a fair amount on the internet on the armies of 1914, but things thin out when looking for how the armies were organized and equipped later in the war. |

I finally dug out the book. The TOEs don't list units smaller than a company, and most of them don't list the manpower or equipment of the companies. That's disappointing. I haven't had time to go over the book and see if that information is buried in the text somewhere. - Ix |
