…Home-Grown Armoured Vehicle. "THE GERMANS named some of the their most powerful tanks after ferocious beasts like Tigers and Panthers. Some of Britain and Russia's heavier fighting machines had their own national wartime leaders for namesakes. Consider the Mk IV A22 Churchill and the IS Joseph Stalin. Illustrious Civil War generals like Sherman, Stuart and Lee were the inspiration for America's armoured vehicles. Then there was New Zealand's only domestically-produced tank of the Second World War. It was known simply as "Bob"… or more accurately, the Bob Semple Tank. link Main page

Yep, we're rubbish at designing vehicles. Thirty-odd years later our next attempt was a "light utility vehicle". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trekka Now we just stick to our knitting: farming, buying and selling each other's houses and mowing each other's lawns. Recently I have been considering the gaming possibilities of a Semple tank versus the milk-stealing Germans. link |

Nitpick: did not Churchill dispute that the Churchill tank was named after himself? Wasn't his view that it was named after his ancestor John Churchill, first Duke of Marlborough? |

I think Stalin would not be very happy if his name was given to such a tank ;) |

I agree don, it would be as good as anything the IJF's had at that time. And like most IJFs' AFVs … this looks like something Orks would use … |

NZ? Urukhai, Cave Trolls, Rangers of the North, High Elves with Pikes and those double handed swords, the human light cavalry, whose name escapes me (later edit; Riders of Rohan!!!) but I helped my lads makes hundreds of them. Nippon would have been slaughtered. |

To say nothing of The Womens' Division of Federated Farmers! Japanese planners decided early on that they would have no defense against salvoes of day-old cheese Scones and week-old Lamingtons. |
