Here is an US Marine armed with a M72 LAW . The M72 LAW (Light Anti-Tank Weapon, also referred to as the Light Anti-Armor Weapon or LAW as well as LAWS: Light Anti-Armor Weapons System) is a portable one-shot 66-mm unguided anti-tank weapon. More pictures at link |

I like the pose. Most models show them being fired or just carried on the shoulder. I think this chap is "priming" his, by drawing out the inner tube to extend it. Is that right? |

Pop off the end caps then expand the tube, place on shoulder, pull arming handle on top of the tube. Check back blast area, acquire and engage target. |

I do gather it is best to look over your shoulder before firing. I never quite understood "Fire in the Hole" but, after six Seasons of "Justified" (Binge watched night after night after night, last episode two nights ago) I think I get the idea. At least this was a rocket, I gather a recoilless rifle is far worse downstream, blast-wise. |

In Army Engineer school, they taught us how to fire the 3.5" (I believe) bazooka. We would lob rounds at an old Sherman tank about 50 meters or so down range. First thing they showed us was the back blast. They put a crate about 10-20 feet behind it and fired; it blew the wooden crate to splinters. I seem to remember a similar demonstration with the M72. |

I got caught in a partial backblast from a LAW at the firing range. The instructors were giving guys an empty LAW to practice opening it and dry firing. This next part will be hard to believe for anyone that has fired a LAW. An instructor accidentally handed a live round to a guy to dry fire. How easy is it to tell a loaded from a shot LAW! He opened it, put it to his shoulder, and then "BOOM-BOOM". Fortunately, he had it angled slightly down and the backblast passed mostly over us. The round went about 25 yards and blew up in the swamp and we got showed with mud. Wolfhag |

Nonsense. Rambo manged to fire one from a helicopter cockpit and he did not even disturb his permed hair. Hollywood must know better……surely? |

LOL !!!! 😄😆🤣 I do gather it is best to look over your shoulder before firing. Yes … I never quite understood "Fire in the Hole" but, after six Seasons of "Justified" (Binge watched night after night after night, last episode two nights ago) I think I get the idea. Loved that show !
At least this was a rocket, I gather a recoilless rifle is far worse downstream, blast-wise. Very much so … |
