Yesterday Tango posted a reference to a list of abandoned military sites. There was a link there to an article about the Tsar Bomba, the 50 megaton hydrogen bomb tested by the Soviets in late 1961. The article includes a 30 minute declassified documentary of the test that shows preparation, the test drop, and the explosion with a very sizable mushroom cloud. This is followed by 10 minutes of clips of the explosion. subsequent mushroom cloud and the modified Tu-95 that carried the bomb for the test. For those Cold War bomb test enthusiasts, it's a must see:
