Well worth following the "similar story" links at the end also. The stats are scary enough, but above all the farmer hiring an excavator to dig it out before informing the authorities! How did Tango miss this one? I'll bet someone will say to just give him time, bless him………. |

I am 'on the spot' as it were. Sadly, a lot of scrap metal salvage workers die trying to recycle these war relics. |

I told you all before when on one of my ROK DMZ Tours. A local farmer stepped on a mine that was not marked, left over from the War. That mine was probably lying there since '53. Most of the old minefields are well marked. They must have missed that one. Don't even know who planted it. Us, them, etc. The lines sometimes changed often back then. We medevac'd him. Our PA & Medics pretty much saved his life/didn't bleed out, etc. He was "lucky" only to loose part of his foot. We couldn't help thinking how many others were left out there unknown and unmarked. |
