I don't agree that the uprisings in the north were necessarily sponsored by Confederate agents, copperheads and southern sympathizers. There was significant anti-war sentiment in parts of the north from the beginning of the war that was entirely independent of the actions of the Confederacy and its northern allies. During the war itself there was also significant opposition to actions taken by the U.S. Government to further the war. |

The New York Draft riots happened several times. In the South, there were very few uprisings in Tenn, Ala. and other places where the Union controlled large areas of land as early as 1862. |
