Here is the heavy machine gun of the NVA deployed in an elephant grass patch.

It looks like an SG-43. The DSHK is bigger.

Both are heavy machine guns depending on how you define it.

Looks like a nice model.

Nice modelling. But yes a heavy MG on wheels would be a real pain in the Bleeped text to haul around the jungle, etc. And yes a DSHK en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DShK is bigger than the SG-43 link

I would imagine anywhere other than a surfaced road this would be difficult to drag. Jungles, forget it. Paddy fields and mud the same. But I guess they must have been able to get them to the battlefield down the Ho Chi Minh Trail so…….

Reminds me how surprised I was the first time I saw a real 50 calibre. I imagined it as a thing you slung over your shoulder or could fire from the hip.

Naw the .50 cal is pig. Weighs about 168 lbs, IIRC. Not counting ammo. You can break it down to move it, but the upper receiver alone weight like 60 lbs. Assembled or disassembled it was heavy and you really couldn't move it very far for very long. You generally have to have 4 troops to move it plus the ammo.

We normally kept in mounted on the Track. Unless in a Deliberate Defense. And even that was rare …
