If you listen to the 'History of the Crusades' podcast there is a great episode where the crusaders had a single large ship that was attacked by a swarm of lithuanians in dinghy's. I also believe there were battles between the crusaders and various pirates. |

They had both rivercraft and sea-going vessels in the Baltic. Land communications between Prussia and Livonia were rarely secure, so maritime travel was crucial in connecting them. |
