just check some of the monument web sites for this info, So It might be wrong Cushing commanded Battery A, 4th U.S. Artillery equipped with six 3-inch Ordnance rifles. Arnold commanded Battery A 1st Rhode Island Light Artillery with six 12 Pound Napoleon Weir commanded Battery C ,5th U. S. Artillery equipped with six 12 Pound Napoleon

One interesting tidbit of information I recall coming across in connection with the Union artillery behind the stone wall at Pickett's Charge, was that at least one battery had positioned its pieces at MUCH closer intervals than the official regulations dictated. I cannot remember where I read it (perhaps Priest's book). FWIW. B |
