Crikey, how long did it take to do that lot?

All his collections are amazing, the gentleman also does great AARs for the various periods he games.

I suspect that is a project taking up a good portion of one's free time during their lifetime.

Wow. Incredible collection!

Thanks guys. This lot have yet to see action as I'm still unsure of which set of rules to use, if any. Might do my own. Anything but Warlords Pike and Shotte unless I fiddle with them with heavily. Around 25% of the collection were finished about 7 years ago then put on back burner. The rest have been done since lockdown in the UK started, of which maybe another 25% of the whole were painted for me but based by me. I'm retired and disabled so have plenty of time.

I would give Impetus a try, as these were developed by an Italian team with the Italian wars in mind (among others, but pretty prominent).
Its unusual, has some quirks, but offers games of fun. Base size is 12*6 for infantry, (length goes to 12 or 18 for pikeblocks, 3 for skirmishers). They also have a nice Pavia scenario in the respective army book.

FOG: Renaissance may be an option but that requires some modification of the basing rules for it.Baroque seems better suited to later Renaissance but might work as well.

Pike and Shotte leaves a lot to be desired but seems like the best pick up and play ruleset. I think the issue has more to do with the lack of decent army lists and subperiod specific rules/formations/etc.

Beautiful collection.

Interestingly – not many/any green-coloured flags.

Thanks gents. Concerning rules I may end up writing my own, as my figures are all based as I see fit rather than to accommodate any particular rule set. I don't like FOG or Impetus although oddly I have enjoyed many 17thC games with Baroque. Lack of army lists doesn't bother me as I prefer to do my own research and the ones in Pike and Shotte need lots of adapting, as do the rules themselves. I'm quite taken with the idea of a modified period specific version of Pike and Shotte, but using the break tests from Hail Caesar. That's mainly because the idea of a 6 always disordering the enemy regardless of whether the shooter is a tiny unit of shooters or a large battery of cannon at point blank range doesn't sit well with me. I already don't allow a 6 to disorder if fired at long range in BP which works well. Of course I have yet to try Furioso if I can overcome the base removal that's required which is easy enough. We shall see…..
