Does anyone make Maltese Cross (Iron Cross) decals for 1/144th scale, Bundeswehr armor? I could also use black vehicle numbers, outlined in white too, in both lower, and higher company numbers. Ideally, the three digit numbers all as one-piece decals, since they're rather small. I need them for smaller, recon vehicles, IFVs/APCs, and tanks, from the 1960s – 1989. I could also use some crosses for a few "modern" Luftwaffe jets to go with them as well – F-104a, F4Gs, etc.. Would prefer a US seller, but will consider all options. |

I think you mean F-4F. The G models were USAF Wild Weasels. Will look around my stash.I may have some that might work for you. Will report back here my results. |

I have just got some 1/600 Maltese crosses from US based Miscellaneous Miniatures (www.miscmini.com), which are from the modern aircraft range. There are 2 sheets available with a range of sizes, 1mm to 1.75mm and 1.75mm to 3mm. These look like they will fit the bill and will do anything from a Wiesel to a Leopard. One of the sheets also has some small black/red/yellow flashes which are useable. There is also another sheet of Maltese crosses scaled for 1:285 / 1:300 all 1.15mm high if you just want one size. Kevin (Miscmini) also does a sheet of WW2 black on white numbers albeit in a larger scale, but he might be amenable to producing a set at reduced scale if he is not too busy. |

Thresher1. Found the decals but they have been damaged. Mine were from Roco Minitanks but they got crumpled in transitfrom Germany when I moved. Sorry, I could not be of help this time to you. |

Thanks for the info, replies, and for chacking anyway. I really appreciate it. Yea, I guess you are right on the F4s, though I thought for sure they mentioned F4Gs, so perhaps the Luftwaffe had some recon birds too. I thought originally that the F4G stood for the German variant of the Phantom, like it apparently does for some other models. Might have to see if I can get some of these printed up by someone. |

Neat! Thanks. I didn't know QRF made decals. Those might work for at least some of the vehicles. |

No probs, it's a good company to deal with. Also, TL Modelbau from Germany make excellent decals in 1/87. Might be just too big, but worth a look. Another recommended supplier! |

This company makes them suitable for several different scales and models. Quick service as well. miscmini.com |

thresher01: Am positive on the F4G (Wild Weasel) being assigned to the 37th TFW, 563d TFS Wild Weasels at George AFB 1985-87. Indeed, the Germans had a a Sam Surpression version of the F-4, but it was a mod from their F models IIRC. All things equal, less than a squadron could be sufficient to operate within a theatre of operations. Hope you get fixed up with the german decals. v/r Tom |
