I've been looking to add to my Eureka 20mm Australians to use not only as Aussies but also as British for Burma. Eureka do Australians in slouch hats (bush hats) and steel helmets and I've wanted to add more figures in helmets, so I was really pleased when AB produced a range of British in tropical uniforms suitable for the mediterranean and for the Far East.

As always these are lovely figures.

The figures are not a perfect match for the Eureka figures who suffer from large heads and stockier proportions. It's not a deal breaker but there is a noticeable difference when you compare them side by side.

Interesting comparison. AB do seem to have the more human proportions and helmets that fit as a result. Weaponry looks more to scale also. We get used to 28mm being chunky folk, but 20mm do usually get it nearer to right.

AB are the best. These look great! I need to order some as well.

Great figures as always – are we in for a Far East CoC campaign soon?

I'm hoping AB might do Japanese forces as well.

Very likely, however it looks like it will be set in Singapore so I'll be using my early war British in khaki drill and shorts for that one.

There's always hope, although my Japanese forces are close to complete. The problem is that the Pacific/Far East theatre is far less popular that Western Europe or Eastern Front, so less commercially appealing to figure manufacturers.

My AB British for the Far East are based for the early war on their western desert range, which obviously also work for North Africa and even some units in Sicily. These later ones are intended for Italy and Sicily but also work for Burma. So both these ranges are very versatile. The Japanese are limited to one theatre and probably the one that is the least popular with gamers.

The Eureka Japanese and US Marines are pretty good but not many support options. Early War Miniatures Japanese range has almost everything you could want. The vast majority of my figures are AB but I went with EWM for early war Brits and Germans. 172 Scale Miniatures carried Chindits, Gurkhas and Japanese for Malaya. Pics look nice but haven't seen any in person. Like TP01 I'll be using the new AB figures with AB Western Desert.

I like the 172 Scale Miniatures Japanese that I have. I wanted some with SMGs and their figures are far superior to the EWM figures with SMG.

Good to know. Thanks.

Here's a comparison between the EWM SMG sculpt (on the left) and one of the 172 Scale Miniatures sculpts (on the right). I think most would agree the 172 figure is much nicer.

Here are some of the Wartime Miniatures Japanese. I like these.

TacticalPainter01 et al,
Per most recent Eureka Newsletter indicates that they will be adding an AB British for Burma range possibly by the end of September.

From the previews I've seen these will be in bush hats (which should also work for Aussies in slouch hats – got to get that terminology right even though they are essentially the same thing). Looks like many will be the same poses as the figures I have posted here but with different heads, although there are some very nice looking new sculpts for a mortar crew. Piers may have some pictures he can post.

They are as you say. Bush hats and the three figures in the picture are the same poses as above. Ditto to mortar crew. Nik at Eureka Told me he hoped to have pics up in two weeks or so. I should have asked if they produced mules and muleteers.
