Ah, a pity, though they do have lots of bases to refuel from in the region, so that helps even the playing field more than a little bit. |

And note the Su-27 series that forms the bulk of their modern air power are long range aircraft in the first place. That includes Russian built Su-27/30/35s as well as Chinese built J-11 and J-16s. The Soviets designed these so they wouldn't need air refuelling. And given amount of stealth fighters the US can throw up, tankers are a vulnerable proposition. |

China's military isn't designed for long-range force projection like that of the US. Tankers are not required for the various military districts organized into regions to cover their areas of responsibility. |
