Another RPG gunner on the move. I like how he carries an AK47 as a secondary weapon. More at link |

Nicely animated figure. Good paint job too. RPG gunners officially carried the SKS but I'm sure that was not always the case. With few AFV targets available especially in the mountains, RPGs were often fired into the treetops to generate an airburst. |

That RPG is beautifully cast and you have made a great job of highlighting it (dry brushed gunmetal?). Poor lad is burdened down. The launcher, a packful of ammo for it, the AK and its magazines….. |

Nicely done … but I'm bet'n Marvin the ARVN or a Grunt from the USA will drop him before he gets a shot. But as we know … that didn't always happen. |

I've always thought that at least part of an rpg was wood. |
Legion 4 | 08 Aug 2020 8:05 a.m. PST |
Yes part of the of the tube was … at least everyone I saw … The middle of the barrel is covered in wood to protect the operator from heat and the two handles are located close together in the center of the weapon. link |

This made me groan, thinking I would have to go back to my RPG wielding NVA gent from Gringos 40. Never thought of the wooden bit. But I think he is using the earlier RPG 2, the BA40 in NVA-speak, so I think I am OK…..whew! |

Nope … breakout your paints boys … en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG-2 The center section of the tube has a thin wooden covering to protect the user from the heat generated by the grenade launch. The wooden covering also makes using the weapon in extreme cold conditions easier.
Widely distributed to allies of the Soviet Union, it was also produced under license by China, North Vietnam and North Korea. Used against the U.S. military in the Vietnam War, its Vietnamese variants were called the B40 (Ba Do Ka (Bazooka) 40mm) and B50.[6] B50 was B40 using Chinese Type 50 HEAT warhead (Chinese version of PG-2).[8] B40 – North Vietnamese clone of the RPG-2.[11] Rear barrel guard is 50mm shorter than the RPG-2/Type 56.[6] B50 – Enlarged version of the B40.[11] Type 56 – Chinese clone of the RPG-2.[10][12] |

Sob. Even the RPG 2 ((B40) indeed had a wooden section….. Tell the truth, between just finishing Prussian Hussars in 1/72 and loads of vehicles needing crews for 2eme DB Liberation of Paris in 20mm, I think I will leave it for now. But you are right and everyone who has shown them so far, whether Empress or Gringos 40, is wrong. Sob |

deadhead … you probably have never seen an RPG in person. Even the Army Res unit I was in, in '91 had an RPG launcher in the arms room. From Vietnam, no rounds though … ☹ So don't be too hard on yourself. As I said, I've never seen an RPG with out the wooden covering. But I was in the Army for over a decade. 👴🧟♂️ |
