A few month back Empress miniatures released a 6 figure USMC Recon pack. I just started painting these. I thought it might be difficult to paint the camouflage uniform, but i think i found a way to paint it quite easily and quickly. It took me about 1 hour to finish this miniature.

More about the painting technique here: link

The camou is great but what i always comment on is the highlights you achieve on the kit and webbing. the stripe on the smoke grenade cannot have been easy either. I am seeing this chap at about x5 magnification on my monitor!

Nice job on the lowland ERDL pattern camouflage. That was the forerunner of the woodland pattern. Two versions were made. The Army used a tan based "highland" pattern, but the Marines chose to use the lowland version which was light green based.
This has to be one of the hardest camo uniforms to paint.
Wonderful job Tom! You pretty much hit this one out of the park.

Great work! Just amazing.

I never highlight, I think it looks fake but this figure looks subtle and great.

Love the reloading pose on this guy. And yeah, the ERDL is well done. What weapon is he carrying in his pack?

Bismark – cool info, didn't know the USMC and US Army had different versions of ERDL

Uparmored,
When that pattern was first developed they did the two different shades with the idea of issuing color based on
local AO. As I understand, the Army chose to use both, depending on where or what country the units were stationed.
The Marines only chose to use the lighter green shade. You can find more info on this on Wikipedia. I learned this from a former Special Forces friend years after the war.

Yes I saw both types ERDL, the Green dominate or the Brown dominate versions. I know mine were the Green version. But I'm pretty sure some were wearing the Brown as well. old fart

That is a Sawed Off Shot Gun in his pack. We were issued some IIRC Remington 870s for certain special missions. old fart But they had the full stock and barrel. Even with a bayonet lug, but it fit the older bayonet. Not the new ones, the M9s IIRC, that we were issued.
