There are a few new photos of the cossack uprising project on my blog: collegeofkings.com The project is progressing quite well with the Tatars complete and about half the cossacks done. I also have a few Polish units complete but I want to finish the cossacks before moving on to Poles in a serious way. One question that I have for the group is in the Polish film "With Fire and Sword" they show some Battery towers being used in the Siege of Zbarazh. They are similar to Siege towers but appear to be used to bring smaller artillery guns and muskets closer to the defenders fortifications. Does anyone know how accurate the representation of these battery towers are in the film? I have not seen any historical drawings of the battery towers. Here are a couple of pictures of the progress of my cossack forces from the blog.

Nice. I like the religious iconography of the eastern European peasant. |

Polish soldiers in Zbaraż did mentioned ‘hulajgrody' used by Cossacks, that were destroyed by Polish troops. They were described as wooden covers on wheels, with attached plank to allow Cossack to cross over the moat. |

MiniPigs, Thanks a lot for that post, you don't know how much you have helped me out here. The cossack war wagons were different to the Gulay Gorod that you provided the link to in your post. The Gulay Gorod was a mobile wall that the cossack walked behind and fired through. Having said that, I have been looking for a good model of the Gulay Gorod for some time and despite all of the orders that I place with TAG, I was not aware that they produced a model of them. I totally missed this item on the TAG website. I planned to place an order with TAG this weekend and I will be adding some of these to the order. Again, thanks. |
