I am looking for manufacturer recommendations for ACW figures in the 15-18mm range. I like quality castings. |

Old Glory; the blue moon 18m range is great. All my collection is from this range. 😀 |

Please do ignore any Peter pig figures from that review (Extra crispy). Those figures went out of production 15+ years ago.(2004) That was the year that Michael Phelps won gold medals for swimming at the Greek Olympics. Here is the path to the current PP ACW range which will show you what we actually make and sell. peterpig.co.uk/acw.html Brest wishes for your project Fred martin |

I love Peter Pig figures, but, they are noticeably smaller in stature than the older OG or Blue Moon figures. Blue Moon is advertised as 18mm. I have all 3 in my burgeoning armies, but don't mix them in the same units. |

Viking Forge's ACW range is very nice. I recently plunged into ACW in this scale and started with VF. I plan to use Blue Moon as well, but need to get what I've got painted before ordering more figures. |

Agreed Mike. You are correct. PP are 15mm rather than 18mm sized. Shame the market is being cut into two distinct parts. Maybe it will give the 18mm companies the bigger market share they want , maybe not? martin |

If you like AB, Battle Honors is a good alternative by the same sculptor Anthony Barton. And can't forget Stone Mountain Miniatures and Old Glory 15s. I also have several units of Freikorps 15s in my ACW collection. |

The bulk of mine are Old Glory (most of the CSA) and Essex (most of the USA). I also have small numbers of Blue Moon (which are excellent), older Peter Pig (also excellent, but quite small), and a hand full of others, including Stone Mountain. A few command stands have AB. I like the well-fed-looking Essex for Union troops, as they are also quite uniform and easy to paint, while the more madcap and animated OG figures make excellent CSA units with easy variety for shapes and therefore some colour interest. They just take a little longer to paint. Depending on the actual figure itself (and not the maker), I mix figures on stands. The smaller and older PP, for example, make excellent drummers and officers, while taller figures (or those with a thicker base) can be mixed individually into three- and four-figure stands for some visual variety, which is especially useful for the Essex-majority Union troops. In the end, the only general on the reviewing stand is me. Happy gaming! |

Agree with the above. Most of my collection is Old Glory, with some units from some of the other manufacturers. I generally try not to mix figures in units. Stone Mountain has the greatest variety of artillery available. |

Old Glory 15s. Easily 80% of my collection. |

Given the variation in size of 15mm you might even consider Kallistra which are really big for 10/12mm. There a quite a few comparison photos (incl. 15mm vs 10mm) knocking about, e.g. link |

I still think that the Kriegspielers were the best ACW line ever made. I'd even buy them today. Too bad they are no longer in production. |

If I were starting de novo I would probably go with Stone Mountain. However I invested heavily in Empire Confederettes and MiniFigs (when they came in strips.) Peter Pig is closer to true 15mm and thus fit in better with what I have. |
