I am genuinely surprised. The Defenders should have had more bowmen to defend the castle. I expected heavy losses for the Attackers. In the siege games I've run, and participated in, the Castle is always a force multiplier of x5! Normally, a small number of Defenders can successfully drive off five times as many Attackers, due to the Castle's defenses. I realize the Defender kept his Reserve Troops in the rear, too long. Still… I like the tabletop terrain. It is simple, but elegant. The castle crenelations appear to be made of cut wood -- that took a LOT of work! It looks/sounds like they all had a great time with the battle. Well done, say I! Cheers! |

Sgt Slag, I have read all the battle reports for this campaign, on the site. They all go badly for fortification defenders in all of them but one and the attackers ran back to their boats and fled, never tried an assault. I don't know what rules they are using but it is always ladder assaults and they are always rapidly successful. I don't think this club has a any real idea how hard castle assaults are. ;) |

I poked around their site, too. Looked at more battle reports, looking hard at the photo's, to get an idea of the rules they might be using… It appears to be some sort of home-brewed rules, d6-based. Numerous photo's show painted d6's, sitting by units of figures. It seems to likely be home-brew'ed rules, from the comments, as well. I can't say that I would enjoy their rules, but I do enjoy the photo's, and the write-up's. The outcome of the games, seem unrealistic, even for a fantasy game. Still, it appears as though they are having a very fun time with it. That is all that matters. Cheers! |
