Anyone play this rule set? I have some questions about the rules and couldn't find any support sites from a quick google search. |

Thanks. My question was about cavalry in towns. The rules seem to contradict themselves. One place in the rules it specially states that only one infantry unit may deploy in a town and doesn't mention anything about cavalry. But the quick reference chart shows cavalry fighting out of a town take a 50% penalty. So can cavalry also deploy in a town? How do other rule systems generally handle this? |

I would think cav could not deploy in a town and would be handicapped if attacking from a town after having moved into it. |

Yea, I agree. I just found it odd that the author specifically mentions that one infantry unit (unit is a brigade) can deploy in a town but doesn't say anything about cavalry. So one could assume that cavalry cannot deploy in a town, but the quick reference sheet lists that cavalry fighting out of a town has a 50% combat penalty. It's as if the author changed his mind half way through writing the rules and forgot to update the appropriate section. One of several inconsistencies or contradictions in the rules. I guess my opponent and I will have to agree on an interpretation. |

Hey guys. Sorry for the late post, just saw the topic. Only infantry and artillery can deploy to occupy the town base – either one infantry brigade, one infantry brigade with an attached battery, or two independent artillery batteries. Cavalry can pass through a town in column formation but, since LPA does not allow for the use of dismounted cavalry, cannot occupy the town. The 50% melee penalty is for cavalry attacking a town, not for cavalry attacking from a town. In the unlikely event that cavalry ended their movement within a town and, in the next turn, charged out of the town into a melee, as long as the target of the charge was not in another town base they would fight at full potential.
