I've been digging out my ancients after several years and I'd like to add some variety to the figures I've got and wondered if the Warlord Marines would look ok size wise beside Aventine EIR. With their cloaks they look like they'd be good as auxiliaries in the colder climate of Northern Europe. I remember seeing the Warlord plastic auxiliaries and thinking that they were quite big and suitable but I haven't seen the marines in the bare metal and am unlikely too due to the lack of shows. Are they similar in size to Aventine or are they small like the Warlord plastic EIR. Here's the marines in store link |

I have been looking on the net but can't find any size comparisons. Surely someone has these figures?I know the figures are metal but I would strongly doubt that they are as tall as aventine. |

Johnp4000 I've subsequently found this comparison which shows a Warlord Plastic Caesarian Roman beside an Aventine figure. link This sort of makes me think the Marines may be OK. Of course this assumes Warlord standardised on a scale and the the plastic caesarian is of that scale!! I'm surprised that I cannot find anyone on the net who's bought the marines and compared them or even posted photos of them in a game where they're alongside other figures. I may just wait till Sunday when we have our first club meeting and see if anyone has bought them and I can compare. Frustrating as they look like really nice figures. link |

That is interesting from that second link they do look bigger than the artillery crew which, I know are the same size as the standard Warlord Legionary.I might have to take the risk and just buy a pack. |

I have these Roman Marine figures. I am also in the process of moving my minis from the house to the garage (more room for the kids). Of course I can't find them at the moment… I will post about them when I find them! |

I'll have to post a picture, but I did find them today! They are nice full rounded castings with their cloaks and lorica hamata (chainmail). The shields are VERY thick, though. Mine are metal but the link you posted look like plastic shields in that blue. They are larger than the plastic EIR, pretty close to the Warlord Caesarean Romans and Foundry Caesarean Romans. Close as in maybe a mm shorter. |

Thanks for that. I think they may be worth investing in. I can change the shields. I do find a lot of metal shields very thick. I laboriously sanded down some Foundry Anglo Saxons and Viking shields as they looked so bad. |
