We have seen the MP and CIA response and a few sneak previews of the VC assault team themselves, from Gringos40 in 28mm, but here is bunch of VC nicely painted up in civilian rig;

Is that the Embassy lawn they're fighting across? Needs some evergreen treatment I think! Like them. JB |

Lovely figs, but they look a bit burly for Vietnamese. |

Chunkiness is an issue in this scale. I applaud the production of NLF in civilian clothes – it was quite commonly done. These are well sculpted and animated. Interesting poses too. |

thanks for posting Liam…and all the input chaps one and all they are indeed painted up as "Early VC in town dress" to fit in with the local population..their red arm bands and checked neckties were the unit ID for the section of the C10 Sapper battalion employed in the attack on the American Embassy.although white shirts black trousers were common,all colours were used. cheers Ged gringo40s.com gringo40s.blogspot.com |

I was initially skeptical about the proportions of the VC sappers from G40s just in shorts but I googled it and indeed those troops seemed to be well fed and "thick" in body, compared to other Vietnamese people. |

Relatively? – sure. But these figures and the sappers would make 1960s era USMC grunts look scrawny. It's totally wrong – BUT – I get it. Artistic licence or whatever. All nitpicking aside – really nice sculpts in keeping with the heroic proportions fans of this scale enjoy. Relatively, sappers were more muscular than average Vietnamese. Even today they are small and slender. |

Them VC must have been chow'n down on US C-rats for awhile ! Interesting sidebar, in the US Army's 2ID, when I was in the ROK with a forward deployed Mech Bn[M113], Jan.'84- Nov.'85. ROK troops were attached to our units. Called KATUSAs: Korean Augmentation to US Army. They are part of the unit so they ate in our Messes, issued MREs, etc. They regularly showed up at Sick Call with gastro-intestinal problems. They were not used to eating meat at every meal. In general the Asian diet seems to be low in meat but a lot of vegetables & rice generally. And of course generally they are shorter than many Americans … Doesn't really affect their ability to fight in combat though. To underestimate them overall is a mistake. Like we saw at the beginning of WWII. Some of guys in the 2ID used joke that the ROKs were about the size of a 12 year old boy from the US. Generally that was too far off. But again didn't mean they would not be good in combat. And if war broke out we believed/hoped that'd be true. |

Errata: should read "that was Not to far off" … |

Funny I read that a couple of times as "not too far off". We tend to "read" what we are expecting and subconsciously fill in the gaps. A real challenge when proofreading articles submitted for publication. |
