During these Covid months I have made many trips to the hardware store for home projects but I always have my eye out for materials with possibilities. I discovered at Menards a kind of plastic panel (in a clearance bin). The sheets are about 1/16" thin and the one I got was 4' x 8'. This surface of this white plastic sheet is matte and embossed with a pattern that looks exactly like castle/ fortification stone wall for 15mm, 18mm, 25mm or 28mm miniatures. The white plastic will also respond to being worked with sculpting tools, the pressing of the surface with a slightly rounded edge creates reasonable joints in the "stonework" if you want the stones a bit smaller. Here's the name of the product: Parkland Performance NRP waterproof sheet – White Cracked Ice. A note of caution: I have yet to try to glue this plastic sheet to cardboard but I plan to simply use wood glue. I really hope this works! Cheers!

I haven't found any good pictures of it online. Maybe I'll have to stop at the hardware store when I'm out tomorrow. |

link Sounds like this stuff from Home Depot. Smooth and matte on one side, textured and a little shiny on the other. Cuts down well and can be carved. I've used it for buildings and floors. |

I know the stuff is available at several hardware stores. I think Lowe's carries it too. If anyone is interested, I just painted some up as a stone wall and photographed it with a figure in front. I could post the photo. It's not perfect but I'm still experimenting. FYI: I found out NRP sheet is made up of recycled plastic. It makes me feel very "green" and environmentally friendly! :) Cheers! @Gallocelt: Sounds cool, please do post a pic or two if you can. Thanks! |

Hi Mad Guru, So far I've only painted a small piece, maybe 3" x 1" or so. Also I'm still experimenting with technique. I think it came out reasonably well but certainly not perfect. Anyway, here it is. Keep in mind the photo is much larger than the actual objects. In front of the wall is a Les Higgins 20mm Marlburian for size comparison.
(Another) FYI: The material is 100% waterproof and I was able to glue it very well to cardboard using wood glue. Cheers!
