…over the Reichstag and suspends Russian artist for her incredible colourised WWII pics – but she says the website is 'deleting history' "A renowned Russian artist has accused Facebook of trying to 'delete history' after it banned her colourised version of a famous Second World War image showing troops flying a Soviet flag over the Reichstag. Photo colourist Olga Shirnina from Moscow, Russia, is considered a world expert in transforming historic black and white pictures into colour. But she claims a series of photos, brought to life and posted to her 23,000 followers, were removed by Facebook for breaching 'Community Standards'. She said she was also suspended by the social media giant for three days…"

this is ridiculous. In Facebook land everyone is an apolitical autonomous drone that must not remember any events from the past where one side lost, only smile and send virtual plant based cupcakes to authorised official and non threatened friends in a polite and non offensive manner. Shouldn't be a problem on a privately owned website right? Only problem is, facebook is where 50% of the world get all their information from. |

When I was in college, and read "1984", I never believed such a society could exist that would promote or tolerate erasing or re-writing history. George Orwell would really love the world we live in today. He could've written many sequels. |

WarWizard, I think Orwell's vision was there never would be a sequel, just a boot stamping on a human face forever. |

Have you been eating meat-based cupcakes? My curiosity is piqued… |

This picture always made me nervous. Not because of the hammer and sickle flag but because of my fear of heights. |

I really don't see the problem here. If they're REALLY concerned they could require her and others to state in an attachment that the photo has been colorized, so people will know it is not the black and white original. Seems a daft thing to be worrying about, given so many other, more pressing issues. |

Have you been eating meat-based cupcakes? My curiosity is piqued… I think cupcakes made with eggs would count as "meat-based" in some people's books. As to the photo, I think those guys are violating all kinds of OSHA standards. OSHA = "Occupational Safety and Health Administration" = publisher of US labor safety regulations. |

yep 1984 is seen as a manual to evil forces in the world today. I like how they hijacked the Floyd death as a false flag to instigate Marxist revolution, then total thought control. |

I like how they hijacked the Floyd death as a false flag to instigate Marxist revolution, then total thought control. ??? All political persuasions have elements who want to practice "thought control", not just "the left". Read some history, for Christ's sake. |

Is there not a story that the original was edited by the USSR as one of the characters was wearing three or four wristwatches? The real worry is what Facebook refuses to challenge in its content |
