The French army also summarily executed as traitors about a dozen French SS volunteers captured by the US Army at the end of the war and turned over to them. They been members of 33rd Waffen-SS Division "Charlemagne". Ironically this expatriate formation is said to have perhaps fought the hardest of all units in the defense of Berlin. War is hell. B |
