youtu.be/fYqFWvK0gho link Welcome one and all, The Yarkshire TV Cameras have been out again, this time covering a new set of rules which have just landed in the YG post box. I've covered the contents of the box and the basis of the rules in the video. Although I haven't played these yet my initial reaction is very positive. It's been the first time in a long while my 28mm Ancients have been on the table, it was nice for them to see the light of day, I'd even forgotten the Bradford City shirt in my Gallic Cavalry ! Let prattle from me, watch the video. Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer |

I have a reasonably size force of Hittites and Egyptians that I realized I had half painted many moons ago. I was planning on using Armati 2. Could you give me some idea on the differences (if you are familiar with Armati) so I can perhaps decide whether to invest in more lead if necessary. 1. It appears bases are 40mm in 15mm for Mortem et Gloria? And 4 bases to an infantry unit? 2. Would appear the Epic scale in Armati is similar to the Magna scale in MeG? 3. Just as a basic idea (I did watch a video by the (Lancastrian) author) but couldn't quite determine how many chariots are normal in a Magna scale battle per side? What I would ideally like to do is possibly play both systems. Thank you for any guidance. |

Hi Brucka, I will try best I can to answer, unfortunately I am not familiar with Armati, I read through them many years ago but rejected them for some reason I can't remember ! 1. Unit sizes vary depending on what game you are playing in Maximus they are generally 6 to 9 bases. Magnus is closer to 4. Base size is flexible so long as both are the same, I think 40mm is the recommended. 2. Apologies I'm unfamiliar with Armati game scales. 3. If you click on the link below it will take you to the army lists for your period (there are 650, all free). Find yours and the lists will be best to help you with unit sizes etc. The lists are Maximus, divide by 2/3 for Magnus. link I can't see any reason why you couldn't use both systems. Hope that helps Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer |

I can help with your queries, I have played both games: 1. Unit Sizes are typically 6 to 9 for infantry, 4 to 6 for cavalry, camelry and chariots and 2 to 4 for elephants. Recommended base widths are 40mm for 15mm scale, 60 mm for 25mm scale, but as long as base widths are consistent, it works with other sizes as all measurements are in base widths. 2. In terms of numbers of bases, Maximus is similar to Epic scale Armati. 3. In Biblical era armies, 16 to 24 chariots is typical at Maximus scale. |
