The lock-down painting continues. I have finished painting the Tatars and have my first three units of Pancerni finished. I am now moving on to paint some cossacks. I have a quick question for those more knowledgable on these matters: When the cossacks assembled their wagon Tabors, did they remove the horses? I would imagine that they did as they wouldn't want the risk of the horses bolting due to the canon and gun fire, but I haven't found any information on this matter. There are more pictures on my blog at collegeofkings.com

Awesome work and pic. Those mats are great aren't they? |

In normal circumstances, when tabor had time to prepare – so support with fieldworks, trenches, etc. – yes, horses would be removed and put inside of such fortified camp. But keep in mind that there were occassions when tabor was fighting while marching as well. |

Great point Kadrinazi. I am just trying to decide whether or not to buy horses for the wagons that I just purchased. I think for the initial games I will be using them in a prepared position, so I can probably do without the horses for now and get them later. |

That's a whole lot of horse you have got there already painted – I don't think anybody would blame you if you skip getting extra horses for your wagons. |
