Another addition to my 2eme DB en Paris, August 1944. The model is the Academy Dodge ambulance, which befitted from some extra detail and especially attention to the undercarriage, guided by a superb review; link I added the engine ventilation slots , which are a surprising omission from the kit and so characteristic of the vehicle. As a late model, Tante Mirabelle should have a different arrangement for the fuel filler cap but….too much like hard work. I did however fix the spare wheel, using a rotated wheel off one of the axles and I added some windscreen wipers. The stowage over the right tool rack is to hide my mistake in gluing the former in place upside down. Decals are the kit ones (surprisingly easier than expected) plus Braille Strike to make it French. The two Rochambelles? Well, the better looking one is a disturbingly minor conversion of a Millicast 8th Army tanker. "His" pose we must not criticise in these enlightened times, but, for the 1940s it was a little effete maybe. Her more homely mate again benefitted from Greenstuff where her gender required. Hope they appeal. Well the redhead anyway……

Me neither and it is well worth reading, especially to get that back suspension to look right! Let me try again; link

Thanks all. I have been putting this off for ages, as I was dreading the transfer/decal application. I imagined those giant red cross markings wrinkling, trapping bubbles, tearing etc. they are very resilient and forgiving. Must again credit that linked masterclass/tutorial in finishing this model. He noticed the spare wheel error, which I had not, even though the box cover gets it right. As it does with the ventilation slats for the engine too. Above all the rear suspension must be fixed to look right. As well as the upside tool box I made an error in assuming the interior would be quite invisible. The screen and windows are so clear that the cab at least can be seen and I should have at least painted the seats. There is a photo etched superdetailing set that is quite impossible to find now, but the Academy kit is a delight, although it needs a bit of work to get right |

Great lead Deadhead. Really enjoyed it, thanks for the heads-up. I have one to make up for Groupe Massu. I think bad squiddlo may have some suitable figures and Dan Taylor Motorworks. Cheers John PS got some ideas for M20 at last |

My M20 just needs me to finish the two matelots for crew and I need some new Paris photos. All mine were chosen for Napoleonic use, so no tower, no Arc de Triomphe etc….. |

Must also thank you for pointing me to Dan Taylor Modelworks (remember I am totally new to WWII and 20mm figures). Soon as I checked I found various heads and figures that are indeed ideal for some FF units. Just ordered a bunch now! |
