I've begun work on the last large piece for the hive. This will be some tall chimnies and various other massive structures. It will get the same treatment as the rest of the things I have built.

This is going to be a massive hive. Might be safer to nuke it from orbit… |

I love how big you think! |

Alas, my Victorians don't have nukes. It's a job for the Poor Bloody Infantry! |

This reminds me of the Allies invasion of Normandy, in World War II… This is going to be bloody! Cheers! |

It tends to be brutal. The bugs generally lose their entire first wave of flying Lancers trying to blunt the initial assault wave. That is 240 flying lancer figures. Human losses in the air can be anything from 10% to around 30%. From there it is close combat on the ground with heavily armed humans trying to make sure they ddon't have to melee with rhino sized chitin covered nightmares. |

@Syrinx0 " This is going to be a massive hive. Might be safer to nuke it from orbit…" It's the only way to be sure … |

Surely some mad scientist will invent something suitable for attacking the hive on an industrial scale: an electric bomb, perhaps, or a gas that destabilizes the nervous systems of arthropods, or maybe a very rapidly firing projectile weapon that uses electromagnets to accelerate tiny but very fast and heavy iron darts? |

Dropping 100 ton steel lances from 600000 feet are what knocks the big chunks out of the nest. Chemical weapons aren't very interesting on the game table. There are plenty of projectiles flying about in general though! |

Surely some mad scientist will invent something suitable for attacking the hive on an industrial scale How about a cannon using black powder to fire glass bottles full of phosphorous at the bugs – would seem suitably mad and VSF? |

There are a lot of flame-based weapons, as well as a wide variety of high explosive projectiles. One thing the bugs don't understand at all is indirect fire. Their minds are not wired to figure this out and they won't go looking for batteries throwing shells in a high arc from hidden positions. This has lead to a lot of indirect fire artillery and spigot mortars are very popular. At a certain point Victorian-era technology, when supplied in enough volume can defeat the bugs consistently, which leads to one-sided games. Basically, if humans can get enough firepower to erase bug units before they can charge into melee the battle is won. The trick is to clutter up the game table, put out lots of fast-moving bugs and flying bugs, give the bugs a lot of shooters and then let the humans determine where they are going to put their firepower first. |

I hit it with a coat of primer and then the base color. I didn't like all the large flat surfaces so I chewed on it with my hot knife and I think it is greatly improved. Here are the before and afters
