Does anyone know if the Hessian Leibregiment's facing and small clothes were the exact shade of yellow? Or were the facings lemon yellow and the small clothes buff/straw? Some other combination?

Knotel has them with the same shade of lemon yellow in at least a couple of prints

And don't forget the drummers had red cuffs

What a great looking unit.

As far as I know from contemporary illustrations, the colors were the same for the facings and the small clothes.

In my view the colour of the facings and those of the small cloths are different – at least looking close to a colour print of the Darmstädter Bilderhandschrift – and yes the facings of the drummer and also the haute bois – and not only the cuffs – in contrast to Knötel – are in this case crimson (interestingly the cloth of the mitre caps still is yellow.

I am not agreeing with the colours / flags either, the Darmstädter shows for the Leibfahne – a traditionally white one and not one is reversed colours to the company colours.
