Does anyone know if the Hessian Leibregiment's facing and small clothes were the exact shade of yellow? Or were the facings lemon yellow and the small clothes buff/straw? Some other combination? |

Knotel has them with the same shade of lemon yellow in at least a couple of prints |

As far as I know from contemporary illustrations, the colors were the same for the facings and the small clothes. |

In my view the colour of the facings and those of the small cloths are different – at least looking close to a colour print of the Darmstädter Bilderhandschrift – and yes the facings of the drummer and also the haute bois – and not only the cuffs – in contrast to Knötel – are in this case crimson (interestingly the cloth of the mitre caps still is yellow. I am not agreeing with the colours / flags either, the Darmstädter shows for the Leibfahne – a traditionally white one and not one is reversed colours to the company colours. |
