Are the Victrix Early Imperial Roman auxiliary cavalry of a relatively normal size compared to most other Victrix figures, or are they on the large side like the Republican Roman cavalry? Thanks!

Damion20 Jun 2020 1:41 a.m. PST

Same size.

I'm preparing for Infamy Infamy. I already have Victrix EIR cavalry, legionnaires and Auxiliary infantry. I'm looking for Celt, German, Gail unarmored Cavalry. Are there any metal ranges compatible with Victrix? Thanks.

Crusader have similar sized horses but they are much thinner when seen from the front. The riders are smaller too.
Renegade were probably the only ones who came close in size, may even have been bigger but they are defunct.

I don't know about size but you could try Gripping Beast Plastic Dark Age cavalry with head swaps from Victrix Gallic sets.

Also the Victrix Gallic and Roman horses are much alike with similar saddles so can mix them up for variation. The Victrix Roman General set has a horse rearing on its hind legs which has phalera (decorative discs on the harness) in the shape of a wheel – the wheel was a classic symbol used by the Celts in war.

Slightly different size topic, but most of the horses available are too big. Earlier horses in Europe were smaller, more like what we'd term ponies today:

I think there may have been some larger breeds in Iberia but horses, including those of the Gauls were around 12-13 hands which is the size of modern breeds like the Welsh Pony.

I'm preparing for Infamy Infamy.

What's this Infamy Infamy thing you talk about?

Just got the foundry Gallic cav and they're a similar size to victrix.

dalemonk,
Infamy Infamy is the latest set of rules by Too Fat Lardies.
They cover large skirmishes for the ancient world,
60 BC to 100 AD. You can pre-order now if you're interested.

The Deleted by Moderator, Deleted by Moderator rules look good, I am looking to use those rules and the supplements for battles in the Near East and MiddleEast.
